mR. bROWN'S WEEKLY UPDATE
Praise be to our good and gracious LORD for another awesome week of school. Parents/guardians,I give thanks for you, and your commitment to and support of Christian education and childcare. You are a blessing to your child(ren) and to Christ the King Lutheran Church and School!
This week’s update includes a devotional, Parent-Teacher conference reminders, Family Survey results, upcoming dates to note, and an invitation to weekend worship.
This year's school theme is, Put on the Full Armor of God. Last week we talked about having feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. This week we focus on the shield of faith. The words from Ephesians 6 are graphic - the shield of faith is used to extinguish the flaming arrows of the evil one - Satan. Satan is waging a multi-front war on you and your family. Christian faith, confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see (Hebrews 11:1), tells us that Jesus has defeated Satan and eternal life in heaven is waiting for those who belong to Jesus. Be strong in the LORD and in his mighty power! May Jesus be your shield.
All CTK School families received an email to sign-up for parent-teacher conferences scheduled for Monday, October 12. If you have not yet signed up for a conference with your child’s teacher, please do so. With the unique start to the school year and the new protocols in place, CTK believes these conferences will be a great time for families and teachers to discuss student progress.
Thank you to our families who have completed the brief survey. Over the next few weeks, some of the responses will be shared here.
Survey Question - What brought you to Christ the King? - An overwhelming majority of survey respondents indicated they came to Christ the King because it was a Christian school and childcare center or because they had heard about CTK from someone else. Christ the King’s Christian identity and its families sharing with others in the community are bringing people to our campus. Thank you LORD for our Christian identity, and thank you families for speaking positively about the blessings of being a part of the CTK campus family.
Please check out the CTK school website Parent Resources tab for these parent and family resources.
Christian Parenting This link will connect you with Dr. Rhoda Wolle’s 5 toThrive podcast site which provides Christ-centered guidance on a variety of parenting and educational topics.
Devotions for Adults This link will connect you with Grace Talks which are brief video devotions with a topical theme each week.
Devotions for Families This link will connect you with family devotions which include discussion questions for several different age groups. Three new devotions are produced each week.
Health and Wellness
We praise our LORD for continuing to keep our school family relatively healthy. Just a few reminders:
If a student is displaying COVID-19 symptoms, but has no known exposure to COVID-19, the child should stay home and return to school once the symptoms end.
Students are still required to be fever-free for 24 hours prior to returning to school.
If you have reason to believe your child was exposed to COVID-19, please consult with your family physician or contact the school office for guidance based on CTK’s established protocols.
In an effort to do our very best to keep healthy, parents/guardians are asked to wear a mask when getting out of the vehicle to assist their child.
CTK continues to follow these protocols as we strive to stay healthy so we can stay open. Your participation and patience are greatly appreciated.
Friday, October 9, 2020, is a professional development day for the K-8 teachers. There will be no classes held that day for students in kindergarten through 8th grade. Due to CTK's COVID-19 protocols of keeping children in separate groups, childcare cannot be offered.
Monday, October 12, 2020, is Parent-Teacher Conferences for the entire campus. There will be no classes or childcare available for all students - ECC/VPK/K-8 on Monday, October 12.
