mR. bROWN'S WEEKLY UPDATE
Christ the King Families,
We give thanks and praise to our LORD for His blessings on another week of school.
This week’s update includes a devotional, a NAME CHANGE, COVID-19 protocols, school updates, calendar reminders, and an invitation to Weekend Worship.
He (Jesus) said: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." As we mentioned last week, the beatitudes are the blessings Christians receive for living their faith. There is no doubt that a Christian’s life can be filled with numerous hardships. The Apostle Paul said, “We must go through many hardships to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.” (Acts 14:22b, NIV) However, there are also many blessings for the Christian. In this beatitude, the poor in spirit are those who know their sinfulness and recognize their need for a Savior. When Christians rely completely on Jesus and his perfect life, innocent death, and glorious resurrection for our salvation, we are blessed - the Kingdom of Heaven is ours.
NAME CHANGE - BIG NEWS
At its December 2020 meeting, the Executive Council of Christ the King Lutheran Church and School officially changed the name of the early childhood center, elementary school, and middle school to Christ the King Academy. Church leadership believes this name provides clarity in who we are as an educational institution and what is done on this campus. Over the next several weeks, you will begin to notice changes in signage, etc. on campus, in our communications, and on the website. Christ the King Academy leadership is excited about getting our name into the community and carrying out our mission of People Helping People Become All Christ Calls Them to Be.
Within the next couple of weeks, Christ the King Academy will have have car magnets available for families. More details will follow in the coming weeks.
COVID-19 Protocols Update
The news reports are pretty clear. COVID-19 continues to spread and the need for vigilance and safeguards continue. As mentioned last week, Christ the King has been blessed with relative health and wellness. All but one of our classrooms have remained open for the entire year and for that we give thanks and praise to our LORD. This does not happen by accident. Through the cooperative efforts of students, families, and staff, along with the LORD’s blessing, Christ the King has remained healthy. Students and teachers have followed on-campus protocols and families have been proactively communicating with administration when health concerns arise. Christ the King is so thankful for families taking extra precautions and erring on the side of caution for the benefit of the entire school community.
Families, please continue to remain vigilant. If you suspect that you or your child has come into contact with someone COVID-19 positive or you or someone in your home has tested positive for COVID-19, please contact Mr. Brown or Miss Tammie as soon as possible.
May the LORD continue to bless our collaborative efforts.
